Garages and sheds are known for becoming a dumping ground for all the things you don’t know what to do with them. Apply the tips listed under declutter to these buildings as you go through them.
Remember – you may use your one car garage for storage and a workshop, but prospective buyers may want to use it to park their car and having it clean and organized can help them envision their vehicle in that space.
- Utilize shelving and totes to store items neatly
- Sweep out dust and debris
- Brush out cobwebs/spiderwebs with a broom
- If applicable, make sure garage door openers work and lights are functional
- Remove any motor oil stains using cat litter, dish soap and a wire scrub brush
- To clean mold, wipe away with either bleach or vinegar diluted with warm water
- If you keep trash or recycling receptacles in these spaces, make sure they are clean and not overflowing or smelly.
